Hi! I'm Marije van den Houten, the face behind Captura Mama. I live in Woerden with my partner and our two children.
Both professionally and in my spare time, I'm heavily involved with technology, creativity, and capturing meaningful moments: a combination that made me start with Captura Mama.
A creative foundation
I first encountered 3D animation during my studies at the Grafisch Lyceum in Utrecht. Since then, 3D modeling and printing techniques have evolved so much that the possibilities have only become more interesting.
The technical side
I worked in the software industry for about 10 years, where I discovered the added value of smart and user-friendly technology. I can now apply this experience at Captura Mama, allowing women to create their own 3D scans from home. Together with a software partner, I developed an application to convert images into 3D objects, which ultimately form the pregnancy sculpture. Technology and creativity reinforce each other, and that's precisely how I strive to achieve the best results.
Why Captura Mama
Captura Mama is all about capturing memories and preserving the emotions related to a pregnancy. It's a special time with both beautiful and (sometimes) challenging aspects. Because not everything in life can or needs to be beautiful, and to me that's part of the beauty.
I believe that a personal piece of art can bring us closer to those pure moments, as long as it is done with love, care and integrity.
